ATMA functionaries trained on ‘scientific  management of pond for effective fish rearing’

Medziphema, November 18 (MExN): State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) organized two-day training on ‘scientific management of pond for effective fish rearing’ for ATMA functionaries at SAMETI, Medziphema on November 17 and 18. 

The training was aimed at imparting technical knowledge and also to upgrade the skills on adopting Scientific methods of Fish farming to the participants, stated a press release issued by Director, SAMETI & Principal IETC Medziphema.

During the training, the trainees were taught on Site selection, Species Selection, Scientific Management of Pond, Integrated Fish farming, Planning and Economics which were imparted by the resource persons Shamyung O Ongh, Fishery Inspector, Chief Executive Office, Dimapur, Nagaland and  Dr Jyotish Berman, Scientist (Fisheries Resource Management), ICAR. Practical demonstrations of water testing by using portable testing kits were also showed to the participants.

The raining was attended by 22 ATMA Officials. Field Visit to Fishery Farm, Chief Executive office, Purana Bazar and Brooder Fish farm, Department of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, Half Nagarjan Dimapur was also organized.

The valedictory program was chaired by Janet Chishi, Deputy Project Director, SAMETI, where the participants from all the Districts had productive interaction with the Resource Person during the two days of the training session, while feedback on the training was given from all the participants of 11 District. Certificates were distributed to the trainees by Dr Watimongla Jamir, Director SAMETI and Principal IETC and Yezaho Swu, DPD SAMETI pronounced the vote of thanks.
