Phek, January 31 (MExN): The Department of Agriculture, ATMA in collaboration with DEF Police Welfare Union, Phek organised one-day within state training on ‘post harvest management, value addition on vegetables and fruits and animal health care.’
The programme held on January 18 was chaired by Vepoto Riga, ATM. Superintendent of Police, Phek, Vesupra Kezo gave the keynote address.
Resource persons, Jennet Chishi DPD SAMETI, demonstrated on preparation of tree bean pickle and brinjal pickle; Kelvin Khamo HEA Horticulture Phek, demonstrated on preparation of tomato ketchup and ginger powder; Dr Raveyi Khesoh, ATM, gave training on livestock management; Chosuve Nakro ATM demonstrated on preparation of tomato pickle and green chilli pickle.
During the discussing hour the attendees had an interaction with the resource persons. More than 70 people attended the training.
Meanwhile, one-day training on propagation and nursery management of temperate fruit crops was organized by Horticulture Research Farm (HRF) Pfütsero, sponsored by Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Phek.
The focus of the training was on propagation and nursery management of persimmon and kiwi as the latter is gaining national importance. The key resource persons during the training were Mr. Kelhouzakie Chielie, HO HRF Pfütsero, Lhuveto,HI,HRF Pfütsero and Mr. Chapi Chale,HEA ,HRF Pfütsero.
Hands on practical demonstration of propagation methods and nursery management were emphasized during the training for production of quality planting materials. The training was attended by 74 farmers.
