ATMA Wokha holds Farmer-Scientist interaction prog

Officials along with the farmers during the Farmer-Scientist interaction programme held at ICAR KVK Conference hall Wokha on February 12.

Wokha, February 15 (MExN): A District Level Farmers Award & Training-cum-Farmer–Scientist interaction programme was organised on February 12 to recognize progressive farmers, strengthen farmer–scientist linkage, and disseminate improved agricultural technologies at ICAR KVK Conference hall Wokha by Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Wokha.

The programme was graced by Rechalungle, NCS, Extra Assistant Commissioner, Wokha as the Special Guest. In her address, she congratulated the awardee farmers for their hard work and dedication towards agriculture development in the district. She emphasised on the importance of adopting scientific and modern farming practices to improve productivity and income.

Deputy District Agriculture officer Renathung Kikon spoke on the various schemes and project under the Agriculture department and the impact of climate change on Crops. He also delivered on the latest scheme to be implemented soon in every village.

Hukai Zhimomi, Deputy Project Director, ATMA Wokha delivered the welcome address, highlighting the importance of scientific and sustainable agricultural practices.

T Subenthung Yanthan, Deputy Project Director, ATMA Wokha presented the major achievements and activities undertaken by ATMA including farmer trainings, demonstrations, exposure visits, and promotion of innovative agricultural practices.

Progressive farmers from different blocks were felicitated for their outstanding contributions in agriculture and allied sectors. Certificates and appreciation tokens cash were distributed to motivate and encourage excellence in farming.

Technical Session I included a presentation on Quality Piglet Production through Artificial Insemination by Dr Moa, CTO (Animal Science), ICAR KVK Wokha. Another session on Fall Armyworm in Maize – Identification and Management was delivered by Dr N Khumdemo Ezung, CTO (Agronomy), ICAR KVK Wokha.

Technical Session II featured a Farmers–Scientist Interaction where farmers actively raised queries related to crop production, livestock management, pest control, and marketing. The panel provided practical and scientific solution.

The programme strengthened the linkage between farmers and scientists, encouraged adoption of improved technologies, and recognised progressive farmers for their contributions. The event concluded with seed distribution and a vote of thanks by Benthunglo Murry BTM, followed by light lunch and photo session.
