'State Government of the day instead deserves the award of least control in law and order'
DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 23 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has termed the award conferred to Nagaland as the ‘Best Performing Small State’ in the ‘Law and Order’ category by the India Today State of State’s Survey 2018 as an insult to the people of Nagaland.
The Award which was presented by the Vice President of India has exposed his ignorance of Nagaland’s situation, NPCC president K Therie said in a press statement on Friday. The NPCC stated that whatever may be the criteria of consideration for the Award, as far as law and order is concerned; Nagaland State has completely failed to maintain public order.
It alleged that the state government is not at all in control rather, it is under the control of multi self-styled governments.
“Ransom demands and kidnappings are almost daily news. The state government is the last government that the people respect for it has adopted a policy to facilitate and support multi-factions, associations and unions and are allowed to collect tax,” the NPCC alleged.
Condemning the action of India Today for misleading the nation, the NPCC went on to state that the government that does not have control over illegal activities does not deserve award. State Government of the day deserves the award of least control in law and order, it added.
