The Centre has said that it aware of the border dispute between Assam and Nagaland but is not ‘planning to act on such information’ as the matter is being considered in the Supreme Court, the Lok Sabha was informed on Tuesday.
“Some allegations and counter allegations of encroachments along the boundary between Assam and Nagaland from both sides have been reported,” the Minister of State in the Ministry Of Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy stated in a reply to an ‘Unstarred Question’ on February 9 from Member of Parliament Gaurav Gogoi.
On the question of acting on such information, the Minister added, “Government of Assam had filed an Original Civil Suit No. 2/1988 in the Hon’ble Supreme Court on the boundary issue with Nagaland. The matter is sub-judice.”
