Dimapur, June 26 (MExN): An IEC awareness programme on the topic ‘sanitation and hygiene during COVID-19 pandemic’ was held at Adhoc Council Hall, Niuland Town, Dimapur. Organized by PHED (Rural) Dimapur and sponsored by WSSO, PHED, Nagaland, Kohima, the participants comprised GBs, Council representatives, WATSAN Committee members and PHED staff.


The department in a press release stated that Imojungla Longkumer, Sanitation and Hygiene Consultant, PHED(R) division, Dimapur dwelt on the importance of water, sanitation and hygiene, which has become all the more important during this crisis period. Talking on how best we can prevent it, she said that life is never going to be the same, as people have to live with this threat, accepting it as the new normal, equipped with knowledge and information about surviving through this pandemic.


The programme following strict social distancing and mask wearing was chaired by Er Narisen Jami, SDO, PHED, Niuland who encouraged the village representatives to take the message forward and put their heads together to avoid community transmission.


Important materials related to COVID 19 like masks, sanitizers, pamphlets in local dialects were distributed to the representatives. Vote of thanks was delivered by Vibou Seyie, IEC Consultant, PHED (Rural) division, Dimapur. The awareness for Niuland sub division ended with mass prayer and lunch.
