Former Home Minister Thenucho Tunyi along with other officials during a visit to Dimapur Railway High School (DRHS) on November 7.
Dimapur, November 7 (MExN): Former Nagaland Home Minister and veteran Naga leader Thenucho Tunyi on Saturday visited Dimapur Railway High School (DRHS) along with Bishnu Bhattacharjee, chairman, and other members of the DRHS Ex Students Forum of Nagaland, and assured support for the welfare and development of the institution.
During the visit, Tunyi interacted with the in-charge of DRHS, teaching staff and alumni representatives. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views and discuss various issues concerning the welfare, improvement and future development of the school. Both sides expressed their willingness to work together and extend mutual cooperation for the progress of the institution.

The Ex Students Forum felicitated Tunyi and expressed gratitude for his visit, encouragement and goodwill. During the interaction, Tunyi expressed his willingness to provide guidance and support in an advisory capacity. He also assured the Forum that, as a senior Naga leader, he would extend support and intervene whenever required in matters concerning the welfare, educational interests and future prospects of students in Nagaland.
As a follow-up initiative, a delegation of the DRHS Ex Students Forum will visit the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) headquarters at Maligaon, Guwahati, to meet the General Manager (GM) and Principal Chief Personnel Officer (PCPO). The delegation will formally invite the two senior officials to attend the forthcoming Platinum Jubilee celebration of the school. It will also apprise them of the present condition of the institution, highlight concerns over its deteriorating infrastructure and seek their intervention and possible support for its welfare, improvement and overall development.

Established in 1951, a few years after India's Independence, Dimapur Railway High School is one of the oldest educational institutions in Nagaland. It was founded through the collective efforts of seven social workers and railway employees belonging to the Bengali linguistic community.
The DRHS Ex Students Forum of Nagaland has been making efforts to bring these concerns to the attention of the Railway authorities and the government. The Forum is committed to pursuing support for infrastructure development, improvement of educational facilities and the overall revival of the historic institution.
As the school completes 75 years since its establishment in 1951, its Platinum Jubilee celebration will be held on December 18, 19 and 20, 2026.
The press release was issued by Bishnu Bhattacharjee, chairman, and Pradip Mahajan, general secretary of the DRHS Ex Students Forum of Nagaland.
