AYO says it will carry out census of Mao populace within its jurisdiction

DIMAPUR, MARCH 8 (MExN): Consequent upon the failure of the Mao Council to comply with the ultimatum served by the Angami Public Organization (AYO) for complete withdrawal of Manipur armed forces from the disputed site at Kezoltsa, the Angami Youth Organization (AYO) announced that “it will carry out extensive exercise on the census of Mao populace living/residing within the Angami jurisdiction.”

The AYO will carry out the exercise along with its four ranges of NAYO, WAYO, SAYO and CYO, informed a press release issued by the AYO following an emergency executive meeting held on Friday along with its four ranges.  In the failure of the Manipur government to withdraw its armed forces from the disputed site, the AYO also directed the “Mao citizens to evict from its jurisdiction on or before March 17, 2024.”

The AYO asserted that the APO, with the best of intentions, has been shouldering the responsibility to bring about an amicable way of solving the Kezoltsa issue which will be acceptable and honourable to all the parties involved.

However, the presence of Manipur armed forces within the disputed site under the patronage of the Mao Council has been the primary stumbling block in resolving the impending issue, it alleged.
