Back to Roots: Village folks to be involved in planning

Kohima, September 24 (DIPR): The monthly Kohima DPDB was held on September 23, 2010 at DC conference hall Kohima under the chairmanship of DPDB & Advisor, IT&C Vikho-o Yhoshu.

After reviewing the last meeting minutes the Chairman appraised the house on the new initiatives to be taken up by the Kohima DPDB under the theme “Back to Roots.” He highlighted on the Village Vision Cell (VVC) which is a step forward for village reconstruction. The main objective is to bring back all the resourceful folks of the village to their birthplace and give them a place and a chance to sit together, plan and give something to their village. Planning can be done for upliftment of the economy, health and education where remedial measures can be adopted within its reach. In order to do justice and prompt the villages to come up with their own resources to help themselves, the Board decided to invite the villages to plan their models and submit it to the Board for scrutiny and short listing during the current year. The Board would be organizing an orientation seminar on “Back to Roots” in order to give an insight to the villages on the programme. The Chairman said that the new concept initiated by the Board is revolutionary and would be of great benefit to everyone.

ADC, Kohima, Alun Hangsing gave a presentation on the DPDB Action Calendar for the year 2010-11 which would include programmes under the village Vision Cell, competitions for government school students, awards for service sector, capacity building for the DPDB members and so on.

The meeting decided to recommend grant-in-aid to St. Joseph’s School, Kohima, Holy Family School, Kohima and Schole Loje’s School, Kohima. Upgradation of Government Middle School Kiruphema and Government Middle School Tseminyu to that of Government High School was also recommended to the authorities concerned.

SDO (C), Sechu, Akunu Meyase apprised the meeting on the proposal of Jotsoma Township and after deliberations, the Chairman decided to endorse the matter to Deputy Commissioner, Kohima for his comments. The meeting further deliberated on the opening of B. Ed College at Kohima, the proposal of which was received from the Ura Academy. The Board decided to recommend the proposal to the authorities concerned. The meeting also recommended the change of nomenclature of GPS Jail Colony, Kohima to that of GPS Dzuvuru.

District Veterinary Officer, Kohima gave a presentation of his departmental activities where he highlighted on awareness campaigns, trainings etc. carried out by the Department during the current year. The Board decided that departmental activity reports would be presented by EE (R&B) South, EE (R&B) Tseminyu, EE (R&B) Chiephobozou and EE (R&B) National Highway in the next DPDB meeting in October.
