Bangaledeshi might become Assam CM: Forum

Dimapur, April 11 (MExN): The Janajati Faith and Culture Protection Forum expressed its fear that the future Chief Minister of Assam might be an illegal migrant from Bangladesh if the present illegal migrant infiltration goes on unchecked.

A letter addressed to the President of India by the Janajati Faith and Culture Protection Forum (JFCPF) Secretary, Jaleshwar Brahma, while expressing fears about the demography of Assam, stated that the first major setback in the fight against illegal migrants was the scrapping of the ‘Immigrants Act (Expulsion from Assam) 1950’ in 1957, after the death of then India Home Minister Vallabhbhai Patel.

The release stated that illegal migrants infiltrated into Assam in the full knowledge of both the state and central governments and stated that these Muslims infiltrators displayed Pakistan’s flag during the Chinese invasion in 1962.

The release stated that in view of this a plan known as the ‘prevention of infiltration plan was formulated which provided for identification of infiltrators by tribunals on the basis of National register of Citizens 1951, which was vigorously implemented by then chief miter BP Chaliha. However, the release stated that the tribunal was dissolved after a group of Muslims opposed it on the grounds that the congress would lose the Muslim votes.

The release also stated that during the height of anti-migrant movement in Assam, where many people were massacred in communal fights, the Central Government remained a silent spectator in order to retain the Muslim vote bank intact.

The release stated that the central government created hurdles in the deportation of illegal migrants by passing the IMDT 1983 and instigating the plain tribals to embarrass the state government by raising all sort of irrelevant demands including the demand of Bodoland. Consequently the inflow of illegal migrants continued as the government was too busy dealing with other issues, stated the release.  “As a result, two third of Assam has become Muslim dominated and it is feared that in a very near future, Bangladeshi Muslim would capture the seat of chief minister of Asom” the Forum stated.

The Forum also alleged that there is an ULFA-ISI in existence and alleged that the ISI is instigating the ULFA to target the Hindi speaking people in Assam.

“For them (the ULFA), Hindi speaking Indians are the aliens. And Bangladeshi Muslims are their compatriots” stated the JFCPF to President Kalam in their letter.  “It needs no extra intelligence to identify ISI the instigator behind the carnage (the killing of Biharis in Assam by the ULFA earlier this year)” the release added.
