Kohima, April 17 (MExN): Calling it a ‘milestone decision,’ the High Court Bar Association, Kohima Bench today hailed the Nagaland Chief Minister and his Cabinet Colleagues for reportedly giving unanimous approval for a separate High Court of Nagaland.
“We are made to learn that the Hon'ble Chief Minister and his Cabinet Colleagues have unanimously approved in the Cabinet Meeting for separate High Court of Nagaland. This is a milestone decision which is accepted with sincere gratitude by the members of the Bar,” the Association stated in a letter to the Chief Minister.
In fact, a State is incomplete in the absence of the main three organs enshrined in the Constitution of India - the Executive, the Legislative and the Judiciary, and the Bar has been lamenting for long awaiting this policy decision, it said.
The Association further informed that ther State Cabinet has taken the decision at the right time in “honor of the assurance” given by the CM Neiphiu Rio during the Nagaland Bar Association's Golden Jubilee programme on September 27, 2019.
Further noting that the Circuit Bench in Kohima was established in December, 1972 and the High Court Bar plans to celebrate its Golden Jubilee in 2022, the Association urged the CM, his colleagues and the Legislators in general to “save the pride of the State and act on a war footing pace to have our own separate High Court.”
