The Viswema Youth Organization (VYO) today celebrated its platinum jubilee at Viswema village under Kohima district with the theme ‘Tapayalo’ (Come forward).
Gracing the occasion as the special guest, Nagaland Youth Resources & Sports Advisor Er Zale Neikha congratulated VYO for attaining 75 glorious years since its formation in 1946.
Neikha urged them to continue to strive for a progressive and healthy society, adding that, “We must love and defend our village.”
He also urged the youth to focus on what they need to do and contribute for their village. “In all your work and deeds, do it in such a way that your village and your villagers are proud of you,” he said and called upon the youth to do away with negative attitude and ism for the well being of the society.
Neikha continued that the village and its citizens would flourish in all aspects through unity and mutual respect for each other. Asserting that no space be allowed to hamper any developmental activities in and around the village, he called upon the villagers to be ambassadors of development and progress.
He appealed the villagers to extend their fullest cooperation to the concerned implementing agencies.
Neikha also read out messages from Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Higher Education & Tribal Affairs Minister Temjen Imna Along.
“Even as we celebrate the crossing of such a major landmark (75 years), it is also an occasion to look back, reflect and pay homage to the founders of the organization who must have made significant sacrifices during very challenging times,” Rio stated.
Taking inspiration from the founders, the CM wrote, “I take this opportunity to urge the members of the organization and the younger generation to make all possible efforts to be contributing members of society. A nation and a people can only grow when all its citizens realize the responsibility of the collective nation building.”
Rio hoped that VYO would continue to serve society with a progressive attitude in the days and years ahead.
Election Committee convenor Sabul Rhetso announced a new team of VYO for the tenure 2021-23 which will be led by Vizayie Naleo as president.
Earlier, the jubilee souvenir was released by Nosazol Charles, additional development commissioner, planning & coordination department, Nagaland.
VYO president Puvito Neikha delivered welcome address while Viswema Village Council chairman Zhotoho Kiso shared greetings.
The programme was chaired by V Mato Koso, convenor, organizing committee while Keneikrül Noswe, member finance committee proposed vote of thanks.
State Technical Education & Election Advisor Medo Yhokha, Angami Youth Organization (AYO) president Kekhrie Pfukha and several other dignitaries also graced the occasion.
