Dimapur, May 11 (MExN): With the intent to create awareness among people who have plans to either pursue higher education, jobs, business, or any other activity in the city of Bangalore and other places within Karnataka, the Northeast East Welfare Association Karnataka (NEWAK) issued a public advisory on Wednesday.
Being a hub of IT companies and reputed educational institutes, Bangalore city has attracted many people from the northeast states, NEWAK President Vezokho Resu stated in the advisory. However, Resu noted that many people rush with their plans and ignore important information that are necessary for them to get what they want from the place. He also clarified that the advisory is not intended to discourage anyone from choosing Bangalore, but to ensure that people are vigilant and have up-to-date news about any places they choose.
In this context, Resu highlighted some of the recent issues that the Association has had to deal with, including non-payment of salary at workplace, house security deposit, cheating casesfor job placement, fake university, admission consultant etc. “Every year during this season many are cheated by admission consultants and placed them in the wrong colleges and absconded after taken their charges,” and these incidents have been increasing in recent times due to the pandemic induced financial crisis, Resu maintained.
He advised people moving to cities to beware of brokers, either for jobs or college admission and cross-check fake colleges.
Acknowledging that these issues and challenges are often faced not only in Bangalore but other metro cities as well, Resu further stated that connecting with their respective state association leaders or even the Northeast East Welfare Association Karnataka would be of help. The Association also maintains a page on Facebook whereone can follow up and see its activities, as well as the following helplines 9108723370/ 7005043221 which can be contacted for assistance.
