Best performing Community Health Officers felicitated

Kohima, October 29 (MExN): In recognition of their efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide basic health care services to the general public, a felicitation of the best performing Community Health Officers (CHOs) was held on October 23.

The awards which are based on five thematic areas were announced by Dr Thanghoi Lam, SPO & Nodal Officer HWC, a DIPR report stated.

Congratulating the winners, Dr Thanghoi encouraged them to continue doing their job in rendering health care services to the people, especially at the grass root levels. He also encouraged the CHOs to have healthy competition amongst them to bring about quality health care services. 

The felicitation was done during a one-day training on Learning Resource Package on Family Planning including Family Planning Logistic Management Information System (FPLMIS) for the CHOs organized by the National Health Mission, Department of Health & Family Welfare with its technical partners USAID NISHTHA Jhpiego. 

Dr Longai Phom, the State Nodal officer for Family planning also mentioned, that family planning is not necessarily about birth control, however, it is to ensure proper spacing so that both mother and the baby are safe and healthy. 

Monetary awards and certificates were given to the best performing CHOs along with consolation prizes to motivate and to encourage them to do better. The awards were based on the highest number of services provided for the last three quarters on the mentioned thematic areas and timely uploading of reports in the Health & Wellness (HWC) portal were also considered as part of the evaluation.
