Mokokchung, March 21 (MExN): BJP Mahila Morcha (BJPMM) and party executives under 27 Mokokchung Town Mandal have issued a declaration with regard to the ongoing internal unrest in the party set-up in Nagaland, which it said was “affecting the whole party functioning down to the lowest level.”
In a press release on Friday, BJPMM President Temsunaro Pongen and 27 Mokokchung Town Mandal Executive Member Tekatemjen stated that a total of 19 office-bearers and executive members the mandal had written to the BJP Mokokchung district office on December 26, 2020 demanding the immediate removal of is incumbent President Tiakumzuk Tzudir, “because of certain discrepancies in his dealings with regard to the functioning of the party.”
However, no “concrete action” regarding its demand has been be taken for the past three months, it said.
“BJP Mokokchung District could not resolve the Mandal matter because of the ongoing leadership issue in the BJP Nagaland state where a majority of the state party leaders are demanding the removal of Temjen Imna Along Longkumer as the state president,” it further observed.
In this context, the release stated that the party crisis at the mandal level is “an offshoot of the whole leadership issue at the state level” and that the BJP in Nagaland “is going through a very crucial make-or-break period which will determine” the future of the party in Nagaland state.
Further stating that the state will be facing the assembly election in 2023, the release stated that the party should be engaged in laying the ground works in preparation for the next election instead of tackling internal party issues.
“We fear that if this issue is not resolved immediately, then winning even a single BJP seat in the next election would be next to impossible,” the release stated.
The release which was appended by five Mahila Morcha members and two Mandal executives further endorsed the stance of taken by six BJP Mokokchung District officials to remove the incumbent BJP Nagaland State President.
