BJP ST morcha urges centre for separate tribal affairs dept

Dimapur, August 3 (MExN): A delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Schedule Tribe (ST) Morcha met the Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, Jual Oram at his New Delhi residence on August 2.  

The delegation comprising Hayithung Bill Lotha National Secretary, BJP, ST Morcha, Thrijungliba S Sangtarn, National Executive Member ST Morcha, i/c Eastern Nagaland Karbi Anglong Venietso Tsurao, former President ST Morcha, Nagaland discussed the creation of separate tribal affairs department in Nagaland, it was mentioned in a release issued by Thrijungliba S Sangtarn.  

The delegation apprised the union minister about the problem faced by tribals in remote areas. The union minister assured that he will take up the matter to the highest level. He also added that tribal affairs budget for Nagaland on establishing a separate department will improve budget allocation. “The bottleck of various Nagaland department putting up projects or schemes will also end and a refined monitoring supervision for the tribal affairs will be put in place,” it was quoted in the release.  

Thrijungliba S Sangtam also addressed that since Nagaland state is under one of the largest tribal land in India, the initiation of a separate tribal affairs department in Nagaland will be very substantial for the Naga people especially for the people in the remote areas.
