Training program on ‘Modern Technologies of Horticulture’ held in L Hotovi Village (Dimapur) and Pishikhu Village (Niuland) on August 16 and 18.

Dimapur, August 18 (MExN): Basix Krishi Samruddhi Limited (BKSL), a national-level agri-livelihood organization, conducted training program on ‘Modern Technologies of Horticulture’ in L Hotovi Village (Dimapur) and Pishikhu Village (Niuland) on August 16 and 18.
The initiative was supported by the Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), Dimapur, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India.
BKSL and CIH are putting efforts to strengthen the overall farming skills of the farmer’s by adopting Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), sustainable farming, value addition at local level and exploring alternate markets for better price realization, stated a press release.

About 50 farmers from each village participated in the training programme.
Resource persons from Spice Board of India Dimapur Branch, Sam Taro shared about the different benefits of availing schemes from government for the farmer’s welfare, different techniques of horticulture farming in the area and good and agricultural practices. He focused on saying the importance of organic farming and food habits. Inculcating the habits of growing our agricultural products with naturally grown and avoiding the use of pesticides or other harmful chemicals.

Ariba Anar, State Coordinator, North East Region Agri-Commodity E-connect Nagaland, who highlighted on different markets linkages for our farmers to sell their agriculture and horticulture products both local and national markets in large scale, if our production can increase to meet the market demands. The resource person pointed out about the modern technology of horticulture farming by adopting the present demands like Pink Guava, Bay leaves, oil seeds cultivation which are suitable in the areas.
