Dimapur, June 17 (MExN): Citizens of Fellowship colony in Dimapur have dug out a list of fictitious individuals said to be claiming medical insurance benefits under a Below Poverty Line (BPL) scheme. The fictitious beneficiaries were in the list provided by the Food & Civil Supplies department for the scheme being undertaken by the Labor department.
The colony has asked the state’s directorate of Food & Civil Supplies to furnish proof of existence of the individuals in Fellowship Colony as provided for in lists, within a ten-day time.
A letter addressed to the director of Food & Civil Supplies, Dimapur, from the colony’s leadership has cautioned that the colony will seek its own recourse if the department fails to take heed. Chairperson of the colony Dr. Temsu Jamir appended the letter.
“It has come to our notice that fictitious individuals have been found to be included in the list of beneficiaries from Fellowship Colony, Dimapur under BPL scheme of the Government of India as seen in the list provided by the directorate of F&CS for the purpose of providing medical insurance cover to BPL families currently being undertaken through the Labor department,” the letter stated.
The colony called the finding a serious matter for the reason that the government is asking people ‘to be photographed and finger-printed under fictitious names with the assurance that the same would be converted to genuine names at the time of renewal after one year.’
Jamir assured that residents of Fellowship refuse to involve in unethical practices. The directorate of F&CS is requested to furnish proof of existence of the said individuals in fellowship colony according to the list provided by them to the Government of India.
“This should be done within 10 days time, failing which the colony will be compelled to take necessary action as per law of the land,” the colony stated.
