Bookipedians opens free library in Mkg

Bookipedia, the Free Library, Mokokchung was launched at Urban Hub Café, Mokokchung by Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung Limawabang Jamir on December 9. Bookipedia, the free library is an initiative of a group of young people who call themselves the Bookipedians.
“Bookipedia is an amalgamation of two words ‘Book’ and ‘Wikipedia’ suggesting that like Wikipedia, the library will be a free source of knowledge and information for all,” said Sentilong Ozukum, founding member of Bookipedia. He said that the library was launched with an aim to encourage the art of reading among the younger generation. The library has more than 1500 books including books from Naga writers and has a variety of sub-categories. Bookipedia also has a list of 100 books to read before you die as a special category in the collection.

DC Mokokchung, Limawabang Jamir, in his short speech said the library is one of its kind in Nagaland. He congratulated the Bookipedia Team for conceiving the idea of a free library in the town. He said that the library will help in inculcating the habit of reading in a time when everyone is hooked to cell phones and other technology.
He also said that the library will be a source to develop the young talents in Mokokchung and hopes that in the coing years Mokokchung will produce young writers.

The dedicatory prayer for the library was pronounced by Monglier, Youth Evangelist, MTBA. The launching programme was attended by various organizations and persons including students from Jubilee Memorial College.

The registration for the free library is open to everyone and anyone can avail the membership card from Urban Hub Café. Urban Hub café is located below old town hall and Bookipedia, the free library is inside the café.
