DC Mon bans carrying of arms
Mon, May 14 (DIPR): In view of the bye-election to the l-Nagaland parliamentary constituency, and in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI), District Magistrate of Mon, K Thavaseelan (IAS) has issued a notification to prohibit carrying of licensed arms/weapons within the jurisdiction of Mon district. All licensed arms holders have been directed to deposit their arms at the nearest Police Station on or before May 20. However, carrying of licensed arms for the purpose of verification at the nearest police station or deposition of the same is exempted from the purview of the order. The order will come into force immediately and will stand till the completion of the election process. The word “arms” shall have the meaning assigned to it in Section 153AA of the Indian Penal Code, 1860.
Medical board in Pughoboto
Pughoboto, May 14 (MExN): A medical board has been constituted in Pughoboto to look at the applications for exemptions from election duty on medical reason and also look into the welfare of the polling personnel/CAPF on election duty. The exemption process on medical grounds will be conducted on May 18 from 11:00 am onwards in the ADC & DEO office, Pughoboto. A notification issued by ADC & DEO Pughoboto Avelu Ruho has directed all the applicants to report to the medical board without fail. No exemption requests will be entertained after this, it added.
Polling personnel training in Peren
Peren, May 14 (DIPR): Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer of Peren, Smita Sarangi has informed all the polling personnel that the first round of training in connection with the ensuing bye-election to the Nagaland parliamentary constituency will be held on May 17 and 18 at GHSS Peren Town at 9:30 am onwards. Strict action will be taken against those polling officers who fail to attend the training, she cautioned.
Requisitioned vehicles in Kohima to be reported on May 21
Kohima, May 14 (DIPR): The Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Returning Officer of Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan has issued order informing all concerned head of departments/officers/drivers under Kohima district whose official/attached vehicles have been requisitioned for election duty for the forthcoming bye-election to the Nagaland parliamentary constituency 2018 to report at Local Ground, Kohima on May 21 without fail. The vehicles in good condition along with driver should report as directed above, it said. The order also cautioned that action will be initiated against erring officers and drivers as per the provision of law.
Trainings in Pughoboto
Pughoboto, May 14 (DIPR): Additional Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer of Pughoboto, Avelu Ruho has directed polling personnel to attend the trainings without fail. No applications for exemptions will be entertained unless the case is cleared by the medical board on May 18. Failure to attend the trainings will invite strict disciplinary actions as per appropriate sections of law, the ADC added. Round 1 trainings for presiding officers & 1st polling officers will held at 11:00 am at ADC office and 2nd, 3rd polling officers, and 4th polling officers for VVPAT at Town Hall at 11:00 am on May 19, and for the Grade IV staff it will held on the same day at ADC office at 11:00 am. Round 2 trainings for the presiding officers, 1st, 2nd, 3rd polling officials and polling personnel for VVPAT and Grade IV will be held at Local Ground, Pughoboto at 11:00 am on May 23.
Zunheboto district level medical board constituted
Zunheboto, May 14 (DIPR): In view of the forthcoming bye-election to Nagaland Lok Sabha seat, district level medical board of Zunheboto has been constituted for examining applications/cases received for exemption of duty on medical ground. Vekhoyi Chakhesang, Additional Deputy Commissioner is the Convener of the board. The medical board will have its sitting on May 17 by 11:00 am at the Additional Deputy Commissioner's chamber, Zunheboto.
Zunheboto polling personnel asked to attend training
Zunehboto, May 14 (DIPR): Deputy Commissioner of Zunheboto has directed all the polling personnel to attend the training for the forthcoming parliamentary election without fail. He warned that stringent action will be initiated against willful absentees. For presiding officers and 1st polling officers, 1st phase training begins from May 15, 2nd phase on May 22, and 3rd phase on May 24. Training to the 2nd, 3rd & 4th polling officers will be given on May 16, 23, and 24. Trainings will be conducted at Government Higher Secondary School Zunheboto. All polling personnel have been directed to submit two passport size photographs during the 1st phase of training. For women polling officials and all categories of polling officials, a combined training will be held during the 1st and 2nd phases, i.e. May 15 and 22.
General Observers for bye-election arrive
Kohima, May 14 (DIPR): Commissioner and Returning Officer, Motsuthung Patton has informed that following General Observers for the ensuing bye-election to the 1-Nagaland parliamentary constituency have arrived in the State.
In a press release, Patton informed all political parties, candidates and general public that the General Observers can be communicated at the numbers given above for any election related matter.
