Dimapur, May 7 (MExN): A one day induction programme was organised by the Peace Channel at Christ King Higher Secondary School, Kohima. A press note issued by Animator, Keviletuo Yano Richard said that the programme was held with Rosemary Dzuvichü, President NUTA as chief guest and Zheviholi, Advocate, Human Right Law Network as guest of honour.
Rosemary Dzuvichü, President NUTA said, “Unity and commitment in the society is required for peace.” She told the students to work with commitment and to be united to achieve their goal which is to make our society peaceful. She said we cannot achieve peace until and unless we include women during the peace negotiations. Only men take decision in times of peace negotiations and it doesn’t last long where she cited the example of Angola, peace doesn’t last long where war continues after some short period. She said “In the class girls should be respected and treated in the same way boys are treated” where by doing this peace can be achieved. She was really encouraged to see lots of young children who are taking initiative to work for peace. She also told them not to limit themselves to the school but to reach out to the society at large.
Keviletuo Yano Richard, Animator Kohima said, “Peace is possible only if we start from within and that we should spread this peace to the people around us.” Victor Yhome, Animator encouraged the students and explained to them about the meaning of induction. He also told the students that we have a big role to play in the society. He also said “The scarf and the woggle which is given to all of you represent that you are a peace lover and a peace maker and it should serve as your identity.” Investiture was given to 74 students who promised to work for peace in the society. The programme concluded with the peace anthem followed by words of gratitude by Ketoulenuo. The programme was chaired by Ivy, teacher in charge.
