Tuensang, August 8 (MExN): The Divisional Forest Office, Tuensang Forest Division conducted an awareness campaign for Conservation of Forests & Wildlife to Mitigate Human-Animal Conflict and Wildlife Crime on August 7 at CKS Hall, Tuensang.
Dr C Zupeni Tsanglao IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Tuensang Division in a press release stated that the programme was graced by Bharat Laxman Markad, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Tuensang.
During his address, he lamented on the deteriorating situations in the forest cover of the state and the significant decline in the numbers of wildlife. The importance of maintaining a balanced food chain and food web in the ecological system was reflected as an emergent need in the contemporary biome status. While highlighting the need for a mass awareness in the pertained subject, the SP extended full assistance in curbing the menace of wildlife crime.
YM Jami, Conservator of Forest, Northern Territorial Circle and Director, Intanki National Park impressed on the importance to mitigate human-animal conflict while welcoming the gathering.
PCCF (Wildlife) and Chief Wildlife Warden, Nagaland, Satya Prakash Tripathi in his keynote address shared the first hand information and data on the forest cover of Nagaland. He imparted the knowledge on conservation of forest and wildlife, community reserve, wildlife crime and the responsibility to be pro-active communities concerning the wildlife. The Chief Wildlife Warden also informed the participants to contact the Forest Officials and Forest Department for any resourceful inquiries and technical assistance.
