Mokokchung, February 27 (MExN): A two-day campaign was launched in Mokokchung under the directive of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR). The initiative is part of a nationwide drive covering 200 bordering and adjoining districts.
The launching ceremony took place at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, officiated by Ajay Moktan, IAS, Assistant Commissioner. Organized by the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Mokokchung, in collaboration with the district administration, the campaign aims to raise awareness, empower communities, and strengthen preventive measures against child trafficking.
Samuel Kapu, District Child Protection Officer, Mokokchung, welcomed attendees and delivered the introductory note. The keynote address was presented by Imnatola, District Supervisor, DCPU – Child Helpline, who emphasized the critical role of collective efforts in safeguarding children from exploitation. “We need to work together to protect our children from exploitation and ensure their safety and well-being,” Imnatola stated. He further cautioned, “Nagaland is not immune from trafficking. It can occur in forms that may appear normal, so we must remain vigilant.”
Following the launch, the campaign extended to the Superintendent of Police Office and CDPO (North) Office, focusing on awareness generation, community engagement, and enhancing law enforcement efforts. Poster campaigns were conducted at key locations including the SP’s Office, Police Stations I & II, IMD Hospital, NST, petrol pumps, and the CDPO (North) office.
