Dimapur, July 18 (MExN): Can Youth organised a distribution programme for Community First Responders (CFRs) at its office in Dimapur on July 18, marking the completion of the Community First Responder Training Programme conducted in collaboration with the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA).

The training programme was implemented during 2024–2025 across Chümoukedima and Dimapur districts to strengthen community-based disaster preparedness and emergency response.

During the programme, trained CFRs were provided helmets and reflective jackets as part of efforts to equip them for emergency response.

Delivering the keynote address, Can Youth Founder and Chief Functionary Jenpu Rhakho Rongmei highlighted the importance of the CFR initiative in strengthening disaster preparedness at the community level.

He said the partnership with the NSDMA had equipped young volunteers with essential knowledge and practical skills to respond effectively during emergencies and disasters. P Inaka Sema, Assistant Manager (GCC), NSDMA and Nodal Officer, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Dimapur, commended Can Youth and the CFRs for their commitment to disaster preparedness.

He urged the volunteers to prioritise their own safety before assisting others during emergencies and said the helmets and reflective jackets represented dignity, responsibility and preparedness. He also encouraged the responders to wear the uniform with pride while serving their communities.
