CANSSEA Phek urges for disbursal of funds to pay salary;people suffer

DIMAPUR, FEB 23 (MExN): The Phek District Unit of CANSSEA has informed that for almost a month now, the Government employees of Phek district headquarters are facing untold problems and difficulties due to non-receipt of their monthly salary for the month of January 2006 due to non-availability of Cash in the State Bank of India, Phek Branch.

“February being the school admission month, parents are compelled to go for loan from rich people on very high interest to the extent of 20% p.m. for their children’s admission! They had no alternatives. Parents are worried as the days prolongs. Despite the people’s hue and cry for immediate arrangement of cash, the SBI authority, be it in Dimapur or Guwahati have turned deaf ears to the people’s plight. This insensitive attitude of the concerned Bank authorities has grieved the employees beyond measures”, stated a press communiqué issued by S Akho Theyo President, CANSSEA, Phek District Unit.

Pointing out that the majority of the people were fully depending on their monthly salary for survival, and everyone need maximum money for children’s admission and at this juncture, even their daily necessities.

“One should also be reminded that these ugly episodes occurs right after the Christmas and New Year holidays where rich and poor alike spent to the optimum amount available anticipating the early payment of their monthly salary”, it stated.

The Phek District Unit of CANSSEA, has therefore, viewed this episode as a lapse of administration and lack of sensitivity on the part of the concerned Bank authorities. The CANSSEA, therefore, appealed to the concerned authority to arrange and send the required fund for immediate payment of salaries to the government employees of Nagaland posted to Phek district headquarters.

“In the event of failing to comply with this appeal may lead to an ugly episode out of this ill treatment as the CANSSEA will not remain a silent spectator to the undeserved suffering of its members for too long. Now is the best time to act fast”, it cautioned.
