Phek, August 3 (MExN): The Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) today made an appeal to the members under Chakhesang Baptist Church Council and the entire citizens of Phek District to extend all possible help toward people affected by natural calamities especially the landslide.
The Council in a press release issued by the CBCC Executive Secretary, Rev. Dr. Vezopa Tetseo has also requested all the churches under CBCC to pray for the weather on August 5 Sunday service and continue to uphold the affected people and extend help at their reach in terms of relief.
It mentioned that the road leading toward Phek district and further is badly affected. The roads in some places have been washed away completely and at several spots, the roads are blocked by huge landslides. The landslide has even blocked the river below North Kikruma causing a temporary lake which is posing threat to paddy fields, properties and people living near the river if it burst. “All these make people suffer living this side,” the CBCC stated.
Therefore, church leaders, public leaders of all villages and towns especially those living close to the affected roads are requested to render voluntary services to clear the roads.
While appreciating the Government agencies like administration, disaster management, police and NGOs for their intervention, they are further requested to put more efforts to help people with all possible means.
The CBCC has also encouraged all to be “more cautious is man-made disasters” and to carefully plan out first measures for restoration works.
