KOHIMA: The Committee on Estimates has cautioned the Deputy Resident Commissioner (DRC), Nagaland House, Guwahati to be regular and mindful in duties.
In its 78th Report on Nagaland House, Guwahati, Shillong, Kolkatta and New Delhi, the Committee decided to recommend this case to the state government to issue a warning letter to the latter on her irregular attendance.
“Most of the time, when the VIPs go there, she is not available,” the Committee regretted and remarked “It is very poor” as far as her attendance is concerned.
The Committee felt that such an irresponsible and irregular officer bereft of discipline should not be posted in such a place.
In this regard, the Committee has recommended that while posting, careful selection should be done and only persons of sincerity, integrity and proper conduct should be posted for effective management of the House.
Further, during its evidence meeting, the Committee expressed displeasure on the catering management and reiterated that the quality of food and services be improved.
It is also of the view that the price index in Guwahati is lower than other cities as such the catering system should be improved in quality without increasing the present rate.
The Committee further emphasized that Guwahati being the nerve center and gateway of the North East, special attention be given to this House.
The Report also stated that the Committee had fully examined the problems faced by the House and was of the view that to render satisfactory service to the guests, some additional staff were urgently required.
Considering this immediate need of the House, some staff should be posted to Nagaland House, Guwahati even on transfer from other Houses or be sent on deputation by the Home Department who controls the House, the Committee reviewed.
The Committee felt that the proposal for the vreation of new posts as submitted by DRC Guwahati may be taken up for consideration with a sense of urgency.
Further, the Committee further urged the Home Commissioner to take care of the issue of work charge employees of the House.
The Committee further opined that staff quarters and other necessary amenities should be provided to the staff of the House so as to enable them to give better services to the visitors.
