‘Census 2011 is a joint commitment’

Mon, June 24 (DIPR): Director Census Operation, Nagaland, Hekali Zhimomi along with the Deputy Director Census visited Mon district on June 23 and held a meeting with the Charger Officers, Supervisors, Enumerators, NGOs and the Civil Societies of the district at DC’s Conference hall.

Addressing the Census Officials, Hekali said that Census 2011 is a joint commitment and responsibilities of the Government, Politicians, and NGOs & Civil Societies and called upon the Census officials to collect accurate information campaigning from house to house. Pointing out that Census is an important tool for planning which is very crucial for annual plan, Five year plan and other plans of both the State & Centre Government, she urged the Enumerators to utilized the application of the mind and study the concept of Census and disseminate the importance of Census in the planning to the mass for correct Census.

Learning from the Census officials that town dwellers are registering their names at their respective village, she said ‘Census is an enumerating of number of people living in that particular place.’ She appealed to the NGOs to see that town population is not to be reduced by enrolling their names in the village. She also clarified the difference between the General Census/NPR and the Electoral Census. She further asked the Government officials to register their names in their respective posting place. She also explained about the various phase of the Census, biometric, the roles & duties of the Charger Officers, the Supervisors and the Enumerators, 

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner, Mon Dinesh Kumar IAS welcome the members present and thanked the NGO of the district for their cooperation. He also urged the Census officials to create awareness to the ignorant public while collecting accurate information.

The team had a healthy interaction with the Census Officials and the Census officials shared the problems faced by them while campaign for Census. The Director Census along with her team visited Tanhai, Shiyong and Wakching village for Census verification.
