Census 2011: minor anomalies detected during verification in Mon

Mon, July 12 (DIPR): The Deputy Commissioner & Principal Census Officer Mon, Dinesh Kumar IAS visited Naginimora Sub-Division under Mon District on July 3 and 4, 2010 in respect of census verification. He had a review meeting with Obangla Jamir ADC Naginimora, EAC and also all the Supervisors and Enumerators of Naginimora town and circle. The progress of ongoing census and NPR was reviewed and found that 90% work of phase-I have been already completed in Naginimora circle. The DC Mon along with ADC Naginimora, EAC and concerned supervisors and enumerators visited few households in Naginimora town to crosscheck the correctness of already filled in Housing Census & NPR schedules.

DC Mon along with a inspection team comprising with ADC Mon (Hq), Sarah Ritse, EAC Mon (Hq), Ilika, Census Nodal Officer and Addl. Charge Officer Mon town, Nirmal carried out on spot verification and inspection of the ongoing Housing Census, House listing and NPR Phase-I exercise in Mon town on July 7, 2010. The inspection team visited four different households and crosschecked already filled Housing and NPR Schedules by the enumerators to ensure the genuineness and correctness of Census Data. Some minor anomalies were found during the inspection of Naginimora and Mon town ongoing census work. Accordingly instructions were given to concerned Census Charge Officers, supervisors and enumerators to initiate necessary corrective measures to ensure correct Census and NPR data collection as per the official Guidelines. This is to mention that more than 90% of Census and NPR work is completed in Mon District during the Phase-I exercise which is going to be completed by July 15, 2010. 

The DC Mon, along with other Administrative officers of the District have carried out various inspections and on spot verifications of enumerator’s work to ensure the authenticity of census work. All the charge officers have been directed that all Government Servants should be enumerated at their place of posting and one person should not be enumerated in two different locations. At various levels efforts have been made by the Mon District Administration to bring out more awareness in the public about Census and NPR exercise. DC Mon also expressed his appreciation for the Civil Societies of the district, i.e. Konyak Union, KNSK and Konyak Student Union for their valuable support and assistance in bringing out correct census which is very vital for the future planning and development.
