Wokha, November 1 (MExN): Central officials led by Joint Secretary (C&NER), Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Pankaj Kumar Singh and Director (MC&NER) MoHUA, G Ravinder visited Wokha district on October 31 to take firsthand information and oversee the infrastructure development works undertaken by the Housing and Municipal Affairs Department.
A report from the state DIPR informed on Monday that the visiting officials were accompanied by Chief Engineer, Urban Engineering Wing, Er Yanbemo Humtsoe; Joint Secretary for Municipal Affairs T Nchumbemo Odyuo and other State officials. The officials on reaching Wokha visited several sites of developmental projects and schemes and took stock of the ground reality of the on-going infrastructural works undertaken by the Ministry, it said.
The report stated that the officials had a short interaction with Wokha Deputy Commissioner Wokha Orenthung Lotha along with Urban Local Body officials at the Deputy Commissioner’s residence. DC Lotha, on behalf of the district, thanked both the officials from the Central and State Governments for visiting the Wokha district and for the concern showed towards the district. The DC also expressed optimism that the works, projects and schemes undertaken by the department would benefit the people of the district immensely. He also assured to extend outmost support and cooperation for the successful implementation of works taken up by the concerned department, the DIPR report stated.
Officials from the district also apprised the central team about some of the important requirements to be implemented in the district for the benefit of the community. Later, the team visited Yikhum village with the village authorities and also visited Doyang Hydro Electric Project, Wokha the same day, it added.
