CEO Nagaland prepares for Presidential Election

Kohima, June 22 (MExN): A review meeting for the conduct of Presidential Election 2022 was organised by Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland, V Shashank Shekhar with Assistant Returning Officers, Khrouhituonuo Rio and Darhu Shupao, in his office chamber on 22 June,

During the meeting, various preparations were reviewed, such as security arrangements, collection of ballot boxes and other election materials from New Delhi as instructed by the Election Commission of India, a press release from the CEO said. 

It further reviewed the deposit of the same after poll as wells as various arrangements at the place of poll, strong room, COVID-19 protocols to be followed, arrangements for videography and other administrative arrangements, it said.

 The Additional CEO, Ruokuovituo Khezhie, Joint CEO, Awa Lorin and Deputy CEO, R Mhathung also attended the meeting.

The Presidential Election will be held on July 18 between 10AM and 5PM and the last date for filing nominations is June 29. The counting of votes will take place in New Delhi on July 21.

While the nomination are yet to be filed, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on June 21 named Droupadi Murmu, a tribal leader of the party from Odisha and a former Governor, as the ruling as the consensus candidate of ruling National Democratic Alliance for the presidential election.

On the same day, several major opposition parties, including the Congress, the NCP and the TMC, picked the former Union minister Yashwant Sinha as their candidate.
