Minister for Power and Parliamentary Affairs KG Kenye today called the Chakhesang community and Nagas to put unity before anything keeping in mind the political and social challenges ahead.  

He was speaking during the general session of the Chakhesang Hoho Kohima (CHK) held in Kohima today. 

He asserted that today people are connected to the other end of the world with one click. Kenye however said this advantage will not have accountability if social media was abused and not used responsibly. 

Commenting on the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC), Kenye informed that a delegation from Nagaland had approached the Union Home Minister and expressed resentment at the proposal keeping in mind the impacts it will have on the people of Nagaland. 

The Minister in this regard, added that the Centre is considering to exempt tribal states. He further stressed on the protections guaranteed under Article 371 (A) of the Indian Constitution. 

We need to play our part accordingly and must realise the dangers of Central Acts that will have repercussions on our community, he said and called for unity among the people to protect rights for the posterity of Nagas. 

Advisor for Civil administration Works Division and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo shared on the need pursue entrepreneurship and business while adding that people in the government should continue with the vocation. He said there were many schemes and programmes to venture into. Instead of remaining ideal, Khamo asked the youths to become self reliant. 

Kuzholuzo Nienu, MLA and Leader of NPF Legislature Party asked the people not to linger too much on past glories but to ponder and introspect for the way forward. He also mentioned impending issues that curtail society today. 
Dr Neisatuo Mero, MLA also ushered the need to live well and live in peace and harmony. 

Theja Therieh, President, Chakhesang Hoho, Kohima while delivering the presidential address said that there is a large number of Chakhesang community living in the capital city, and said that every second and third incident happening in the capital city involves a Chakhesang person. He said that they need to bring positive impact to societ. 

Vezuhu Keyho, President, Chakhesang Public Organization also delivered greetings. He informed that there are 71 recognised villages and 10 towns. Under CPO, there are 7 units. 

New office bearers for CHK and Chakhesang Youth Organization Kohima were also inducted during the programme.
