Chakhesang legislators vow to give their best to take community forward

The Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) organised a felicitation programme in honour of the four Chakhesang legislators, who were recently elected to the 14th house of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA).

The legislators include KG Kenye, Minister Of Power & Parliamentary Affairs, MLA & NPF Legislature Party leader Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, Kudecho Khamo, Advisor, Civil Administration Works Division & Taxes and MLA Dr Neisatuo Mero.

The four legislators vowed to give their best service to take the community forward on all fronts and at the same time sought the support and cooperation of the CPO and civil societies to reach out to the masses.

In the function held on March 22 at Hotel Japfü, Kenye sought the cooperation of the civil societies and the general public on the various matter of public importance. Stating that the state has many unresolved issues, he stressed on the need to deal the same with seriousness. The unresolved issues should not continue forever, he said, adding that a time has come “to take hard decision, real decision and good decision.”

Among other matters, Azo assured to raise his concern on the issue of illegal immigrant and Register of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN) in the state assembly.

Khamo called upon the public to support the legislators so that they can govern the state in a better way and address various social issues in the state. Dr Mero also called upon the people to come forward and work together for the betterment of the society.

Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) President, Vezhoduyi Nakro, Chakhesang Mother’s Association (CMA) President, Zhonelü Tunyi, Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) President, Avezo Kevin Kapu and Chakhesang Clean Election Movement (CCEM) Convenor, Rev Vezopa Rhakho also spoke at the programme.

Nakro requested the legislators to give special focus on piggery farming in line with CPO’s ban on import of pork to Chakhesang area. He also told them to initiate adequate awareness on conservation and protection of wild life in the district.

Tunyi hoped that the legislators will render their best service for the welfare and in the best interest of the Chakhesang community. She also requested the legislators to take the right steps in the decision makings.

Kapu appealed the legislators to take a wise decision in the delimitation exercise. He also made a fervent plea to the legislators to accommodate the retired officers/intellectuals from Chakhesang tribe in NPSC and NSSB.

Rev Rhakho was optimistic that the legislators will strive to bring social change and peaceful environment in the society. He requested them to empower people and take the Naga society forward.

Earlier, CPO President, Vezuhu Keyho delivered welcome address. The programme was chaired by CPO Vice President, Vecito Dozo. Rev Zhowhuyi Nyekha, senior pastor, CCRC, Upper PWD Kohima and Rev Khrutsoyi Luro prayed for the programme.
