Chakhesang Youth Front upholds ‘essence of unity’

Nagaland Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Neiba Kronu today graced the 13th Biennial General Conference of the Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) held under the theme ‘The essence of unity’ at Pfutsero under Phek district.

Speaking on the occasion, Kronu called upon the Chakhesang youths to take the lead in setting a good trend in all aspects for a vibrant society.

He said that Chakhesang Nagas are blessed with the rich natural resources and the favorable climatic condition is suitable for agri and allied activities.

Assuring market avenues for agricultural products, he told the farmers to intensify the agricultural activities and ensure that there are no spaces of wasteland.

Maintaining the enormous scope of agriculture and tourism industry in Phek district, he urged upon the Chakhesang community to focus on those area with utmost sincerity to boost the rural economy.

The minister also called upon the youths not to feel shy to take up farming as it provides employment opportunity and self-reliance.

Encouraging the youths to inculcate work culture, he said “Youth should not sit idle but to work hard to cope with the competitive world.”

Informing that the government is working on improving the connectivity in Phek district, he called upon the public to extend their unflinching support to the government and the concerned agencies for timely completion of the various road projects.

He also appreciated CYF’s stands in supervising the two lane projects being undertaken within Chakhesang areas and its effort to curb illegal taxation within its jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, he urged upon the CYF to strictly enforce the CPO resolutions on biodiversity conservation, ban on hunting and jungle burning.
 
‘Desist from imitating alien culture’
Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) president Mikha Kenye urged upon the youth to desist from imitating the alien culture. He informed that the CPO is committed to preserve, protect and promote the rich culture, traditional practices and integrity of the Chakhesang community. Stating that “Youth are our future,” he maintained that the fate of a progressive society lies on positive approach of the youth.

CYF president Lhuvesayi Lohe said that CYF has entered 26 years since its formation in 1995.

The CYF will continue to strictly enforce CPO resolutions regarding the ban on hunting, jungle burning and import of pork to CPO jurisdiction, he said. The CYF has chosen “The essence of unity” as the conference theme to propagate and usher unity and peaceful atmosphere in the society.

In this, he urged upon the youth to prioritize unity and peace as agent of factor for a healthy and progressive society. Lohe also urged the people desist from the indulging monetary gain through unfair practices.

He said that the CYF will continue to support the concerned agency/ government for effective implementation of the developmental projects/ activities within Chakhesang areas. He continued that the CYF will not tolerate any element which amount to obstruct the developmental activities.
 
CYF not to allow illegal taxes
During the conference, the CYF has adopted six points resolution. The CYF will not allow any illegal taxes and obstructions of developmental activities by any individuals, groups within its jurisdiction, it resolved while also asserting to check the quality of all developmental activities undertaken by the state and central governments.

It resolved to reduce the two-day CYF conference to only one day considering constraints in manpower, financial resources, time and logistical supports. It resolved to carry out all the activities/resolution assigned to them by CPO and also to periodically check irregularities of public servants in the offices within those areas inhabited/ occupied by the Chakhesang community.
The CYF decided to hold its general conference in area wise manner on roster basis within its jurisdiction.
 
Vezhoduyi Nakro to lead new team
The conference also approved the new team of CYF office bearers for the tenure 2022-2023.

The new team will be led by Vezhoduyi Nakro as president. Other office bearers include; vice presidents-Vipa Domeh & Nyitso Therie, General secretary- Seve R. Vadeo, joint secretary-Shuyeve Kezo, finance secretary-Kevesa Khamo, organizing secretary-Kukhosa Rhakho, assistant organizing secretary-Liche Ritse, treasurer-Sevonyi Keyho, social & cultural secretary-Zakahi Vero, assistant social & cultural secretary-Eyewekho Nusoh, press secretary-Likalo Letro, women coordinator-Vephulu Sakhamo and assistant women coordinator-Natii Lea.

The programme was chaired by CYF vice president Zhietshüte Kapfo while vote of thanks was proposed by CYF general secretary Nyitso Therie.

Meanwhile, CYF has awarded commendation certificate to Thuvopisu Youth Organization for utmost efforts towards bio-diversity conservation.
