Following a meeting with the Tuensang Deputy Commissioner on October 31, the Chang apex bodies have resolved to keep the proposed ‘total bandh’ in abeyance.
Earlier on October 29, the Chang apex bodies, under the aegis of the Chang Kulei Setshang (CKS) had resolved to initiate total bandh within Chang jurisdiction starting from November 1 over the government’s failure to act on the transfer of all the DDOs and files of government establishments concerning C/Saddle, New Chingmei, Chingmei, Waoshu, Yimpang and Taknyu villages from Noklak to Tuensang district administration, even after the expiration of the 30-day ultimatum served by the CKS.
According to the meeting minutes made available to The Morung Express on Sunday, the Chang tribal leaders were invited to a meeting with the Tuensang DC on Sunday.
The minutes stated that that the Chang leaders resolved to keep the agitation in abeyance, with a few conditions including repeal of the March 26, 2021 order which stated that the transfer of DDO, roads and files of PWD (R&B) from Noklak to Tuensang would be kept in abeyance. In this regard, the apex bodies gave the government 10 days to revoke the order with effect from November 1.
It also stipulated that the Tuensang District Planning and Development Board’s October 10, 2020, minutes for transfer of all DDOs and office files concerning the six villages of Chingmei Range from Noklak to Tuensang district should be expedited.
Meanwhile, Sunday’s meeting minutes which was appended by the Presidents of CKS, CCSU, CRPO, CRSC, and the Vice President of CTS, acknowledged the state government’s October 30 order regarding the final settlement of Noklak district boundary in respect of the Chingmei range.
