Changtongya, September 6 (MExN): The Changtongya Senso Union, Changtongya Town has issued a rejoinder in response to a news item, “Changtongya CHC woes: Union threatens to impose indefinite bandh” published on September 3.
In a release appended by its President Tongpangkumzük Jamir and Secretary Talituba Longkümer, the Union has condemned the press statement by the All Ward Union Chairman, Changtongya Town, T Meyi Longkumer, stating that the release was “written without the knowledge of Changtongya Senso residents (Changtongya citizen) of the Town.”
It further added that the release was “unfortunate and immature” when “extensive consultations were in process with the People’s Democratic Alliance Government, particularly under the initiative of the Minister of Health & Family Welfare S. Pangnyu Phom for the improvement and betterment of Changtongya Community Health Centre.”
In an Executive meeting held to deliberate on the issue on September 5, the union unanimously resolved not to allow or impose the proposed indefinite bandh by blocking National Highway 62 (61) and Longleng road from October 2.
