Kohima, November 19 (MExN): The Changtongya Senso Telongjem (Changtongya Union) Kohima celebrated its Golden Jubilee on November 19 at Mulo Ki Kohima with Advisor, Industries and Commerce, Labour and Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of Nagaland, Imnatiba as the special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the Advisor said that a person chosen by God is not easily replaced and considered the Aos to be specially blessed Him. “If the Aos keep God as centre of their lives and live responsibly, He would continue to bless them and community they will be a torchbearer,” he said.
The community was known for doing what others were unwilling to do, go where other were reluctant to go and can do what others cannot, he added. However, he cautioned that if they forsake God, there will be further division, adding the community tends to be envious of each other achievement. This is resulting in loss of solidarity among the community, the Advisor noted, adding that to have the feeling, a citizen must be someone guided by the word of God.
Imnatiba also unveiled the Union’s Jubilee souvenir.
The keynote speaker, Dr Tainla Mar sharing on the theme, “Unshakable Fortress” said that the reaching of 50 years milestone for any organisation, is a time when it is able to enjoy the fruits of hard works put in over the years.
It is also a moment when an organisation is most appealing and had overcome most of its previous challenges and obstacles, she said.
To this end, to keep the fortress unshakable, just like village warriors protected their citizens from enemies in our forefather times, we need leaders who have utmost will and confidence of the citizen, Dr Tainla stated.
To progress and lead others in economic, education and political spheres, there must be such competent citizen among the community, she added.
In this connection, she exhorted the gathering to be humble, compassionate, strong-willed and stands for unity, not division.
Earlier, a special Jubilee dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Rev A Chuba Jamir, Pastor while TN Jamir IFS (Rtd.) gave an exhortation.
Representatives of Kohima Ao Union, Langpangkong Union Kohima, and SP Fransis, Managing Director, Model Higher Secondary School Kohima also shared greetings while the Changtongya Students’ Union presented a special number.
The Jubilee introduction was given by T Mar Longkumer Executive Convenor, CSTK while I Noksang, Convenor, Jubilee Planning Committee proposed the vote of thanks. The celebration ended with a community Jubilee feast.
