Charis Foundation conducts skill development awareness

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 31 (MExN): The Charis Foundation conducted a skill development awareness programme at Nagamese Church, United North Block, Burma Camp, Dimapur on January 30. It was attended by students and youth of Burma Camp. 

The awareness programme was conducted focusing mainly on the need and importance of skill development among the young people.

Kiramdi Nren, Pastor, BNBC spoke on the importance of vocational training and skill development and said that one of the main reasons of the increasing unemployment problem in Naga society is underestimating the importance of manual work. He said that book education is not sufficient to become a responsible citizen and as such vocational training also needs to be given along with other education.

Advocate Mezhulhousieno Nakhro, Assistant Professor, City Law College, Dimapur, spoke on the topic 'Legal Awareness' and highlighted the conditions of children domestic helpers, prohibition of child labour. 

She also spoke on how women and children are protected under the Domestic Violence Act, 2005, about the rights of senior citizens and differently abled persons and how weaker sections of the society are entitled to get free legal aid and services for their maintenance and protection.

Gwangloi, Church Secretary, ZBCD, also talked on how to utilise one's time and the importance of time in one's life. She said that money mismangement is one of the prime reasons of family problem and hence motivated the participants on its importance.

The main objective of Charis Foundation inculcating the importance of skill development and manual labour, is to provide free vocational training to the participants after every awareness programme, said the foundation’s President, Peadongle Hoi.
