‘Charter of Demands’ should not infringe Nagas and Naga political issue: NSCN/GPRN (Khango)

Dimapur, June 9 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN (Khango) on Thursday has “unreservedly” extended solidarity to the “legitimate and feasible demands of the ENPO, which would boost the economic and the holistic development of the area.” However, the content in the “Charter of Demands” should not, in any way or form, infringe, or encumber the paramount interest of the Nagas and the Naga political issue, the NSCN/ GPRN (Khango) stated in its press release issued by its MIP.

The NSCN/GPRN (Khango) while taking serious note of the recent news report by one Delhi-based journalist reiterated that NSCN/GPRN (Khango), President, Lieut Gen (Retd) Khango Konyak has already expressed the stand of the Government at Wangkhao College Mon in 2011, when a conglomerate of Leaders met under the aegis of ENPO to formulate the Charter of Demands. He had explicitly stated, “The government would not interfere or exert undue influence in the formulation of demands. However, the content in the ‘Charter of Demands’ should not in anyway, suppress, or hijack the legitimacy of the inherent Naga Political issue, and there should be a fine demarcation between the two paramount issues,” the MIP stated.

Further, the NSCN/GPRN (Khango) advised the ENPO ‘not to succumb to the “Carrot and Stick” tactics of the Government of India (GoI) in reciprocate of implementing the democratic demands.’

“In the event that speculated demands of laying down of arms by National Political Workers in ENPO region by the GoI is complied with by the ENPO, Ato Kilonser of NSCN/ GPRN (K), Hokato Vusshe, has remarked that such an act would have an irrevocable far-reaching consequence; and would be considered as a treacherous betrayal to the Nagas,” it also clarified.

“The Government, in retaliation, will explore other means of exposure and the responsible leaders would be held accountable for the unfavourable aftermath,” it cautioned.
