Pungro, December 8 (MExN): A medical team from Community Health Centre, Pungro, led by Dental Surgeon Dr Weri Mero conducted oral cancer awareness programme at Christian School, Pungro, in Kiphire district on December 6.
During the awareness programme, Dr Mero briefed about the overall health benefits of maintaining oral hygiene and further stressed on the ill effects of consuming tobacco products.
The Surgeon also informed the students about some important activities for practise in order to prevent oral cancer. It included refraining from smoking or chewing tobacco; decreasing use of alcohol (0-1 drinks/day) eating more fruits and vegetables; visiting dentist regularly; and getting early screened.
The medical team distributed medicine and pamphlets at the end of the programme, a press release from CHC Pungro informed.
