
Dimapur, August 21 (MExN): The Chekiye Village Council has decided to “excommunicate” Beto Zhimomi for the rape and murder of Avino of Khira Village on July 21, 2011. “The Chekiye Village Council and GBs held an emergency meeting on August 20, 2011 and resolved to excommunicate Beto Zhimomi, a resident of Alatosah, Chekiye Village for life with immediate effect and he shall not be allowed to inherit any property within the jurisdiction of Chekiye Village,” a press note from Toiho Yeptho, Village Council Chairman, Nihoto Awomi, Secretary and Head GB, C Hokupu Zhimo stated.
The Village Council condemned the heinous and barbaric crime committed by Beto Zhimomi, and said that such a crime does not have a place in society and should not be tolerated by anybody. The Council further expressed appreciation to the Special investigation Team of Dimapur Police, particularly SDPO Shouka Kakheto and ASI Inaka Kinimi, who incidentally hails from Chekiye Village. The Council affirms its fullest cooperation to the government and all concerned in bringing the culprit to justice as per the law. The GBs and the Council also expressed its deepest condolence to the bereaved family members of late Avino.
