CHV and ASHA workers trained

Kohima, August 26 (MExN): The training programme for the Community Health Volunteers (CHV) and the ASHA workers on Intensified Malaria Control and prevention was successfully conducted by India Caritas and Development Association of India (DAN) in collaboration with the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, Government of India (NVBDCP) in Kohima and Wokha. The 1st and 2nd batches under Kohima DPMU was held on August 4 and 5 at Nagaland Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) and at Chiebhobozou Badminton Stadium on August 18 and 19 respectively, whereas the 1st batch of training programme under Wokha district was held at Sanis Community Hall on August 23 and 24.
The programme was facilitated by Dr. Atsungla District Programme Officer (NVBDCP), Teso Angami Asst. Malaria Officer Kohima, J. Asangla Lab. Technician, Suhozo, MTS and Tia, MTS Kohima who furnished the community Health Volunteers and the ASHA workers how to conduct Rapid Diagnostic Test for all the fever cases, how to collect blood smears and spread the message of malaria through Behavioural Change Communication in the villages. There were 31 participants at Kohima NHAK and 22 participants at Chiebhobozou Badminton Stadium.
The training was mainly organised to train and prepare the Community health volunteers and the ASHA workers to carry out the work effectively in the village level with the objective of reduce related mortality and morbidity by 30% by 2015 as compared to 2008 through the means of prevention and controlling and malaria in the most prone and affected area in the state.
Similarly, the training programme for the Community Health Volunteers (CHV) and the ASHA workers on Intensified Malaria Control and prevention was conducted at Sanis Community Hall under Wokha district August 23 and 24 with the participation of 35 Community Health Volunteers and ASHA workers correspondingly.
The training programme at Sanis Community Hall was facilitated by Dr. Zuben Kikon, District Programme Officer (NVBDCP) Theja Angami MTS Wokha, Abdul Lab. Technician, Bhandari, Robin, Asst. Lab Technician, Bhandari who furnished the community Health Volunteers and the ASHA workers how to conduct Rapid Diagnostic Test for all the fever cases, how to collect blood smears and spread the message of through BCC activities.
Introduction to IMCP-II and the objective and purpose of the Training Programmes at Kohima and Wokha was conveyed by John Humtsoe, District Project Officer, GFATM Round 9 Intensified Malaria Control Programme II DAN, Nagaland, while Kidongam Panmei, Deo, IMCP-II, Kohima chaired the Training programme.
