Medziphema, August 19 (MExN): Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), Medziphema in association with Entrepreneurs Guild, Dimapur conducted an online training on ‘production technology of vegetables for North East Region’ on August 17 through virtual platform.
A press release from CIH stated that the objective of the programme was to disseminate the latest production technologies of selected vegetables, to create the overall understanding on hydroponics and also to promote small scale vegetable kitchen garden for self reliance and sustainability. It was well attended by entrepreneurs and farmers from Nagaland and other NE states virtually making a total attendance of around 67 participants.
Dr BNS Murthy, Horticulture Commissioner, GoI, the special guest in his remark highlighted the importance of training for farmers and entrepreneurs and encouraged to adopt group approach to get the desired result in production and productivity of vegetable crops.
Dr NK Patle, Dy Commissioner, DAC & FW and Director in charge, CIH was as the moderator of the programme. The speakers were Dr Praveen Singh, Hydroponics Professional, The Khetibadi Wala and Meribeni Shitri, Horticulture Specialist, CIH.
Dr Praveen Singh presented lecture on basics, prospects and technological details of hydroponics and Meribeni Shitiri presented on vegetable production technologies of selected vegetables such as tomato, chilli, brinjal and bottlegourd with respect to NE conditions. Each presentation was followed by interaction session.
Achen Imchen, CEO ELs International and President, Entrepreneurs Guild highlighted the association’s profile and its aims and objectives. CIH Director gave the concluding remark while Dr Moasosang Longkumer, AHS, CIH, delivered the vote of thanks.
