Medziphema, November 18 (MExN): Central Institute of Horticulture, Nagaland conducted one-day training on “prospects of Naga King Chilli preparation & mushroom cultivation” at its Campus on November 17.

The training was organized with an aim to boost the potential of value added products from Naga King Chilli and promote cultivation of oyster mushroom in the region. The training has also been organized in commemoration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements
The training commenced with a brief introduction about the Institute and its activities by Vinika K Aomi, Post Harvest Technologist. During the training, the trainees were given hands- on practical demonstration on the preparation of Naga King Chilli at the Minimal Processing Unit of the Institute. Marina, Senior Technical Assistant also highlighted the scope and importance of Oyster mushroom cultivation in context with Dimapur District. She discussed the technique for utilizing spent mushroom substrate for making compost, followed by hands on demonstration of Oyster mushroom production. Prabin Das, Marketing Specialist at the end of the training programme highlighted on the marketing strategies and linkages for the value added products

Altogether 25 trainees from Chümoukedima and Dimapur Area under the aegis of “Little Hut” a community based firm based in Chümoukedima participated in the training programme. The training concluded after an interactive session with all the participants, they expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Director CIH, Dr NK Patle and the CIH staff for organizing the hands-on training programme for them.
