Dimapur, August 26 (MExN): A resident of ward number 6 in Chumukedima town has been arrested for threatening an official from the Power Department while on duty. The offender was caught using unauthorized electricity connection during a surprise raid on August 22under the Chumukedima Electrical Division. When the staff removed the unauthorized connection and seized some materials, the man reportedly threatened the staff with “dire consequences” and re-hooked the connection ,a press note from the Superintendent Engineer (Electrical), Dimapur Division, G Chishi informed. An FIR was lodged at the Diphupar police station and the case forwarded to judicial custody. The department informed that many illegal hooking was detected during the raid in Chumukedima. It has appealed to all illegal/unauthorized electricity consumers to desist from such activities, and warned that the defaulters will be penalized as per the Indian Electricity Act 2003.
