The closing programme of the Civil Defence Wardens and Volunteers Training was held today at the Town Hall, Mokokchung, marking the conclusion of a district-wide capacity-building initiative under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
The training, which began on November 18, 2025, was conducted simultaneously at Mokokchung Sadar, Tuli Sub-Division, and Mangkolemba Sub-Division, covering a total of 360 Civil Defence volunteers and wardens.
Delivering the closing address, Neithozo Theuno, EAC, expressed gratitude to all trainees who participated from near and far, including those travelling from various villages. He also commended the Home Guards, Civil Defence & SDRF department for their dedicated efforts in successfully executing the training across the district.
Theuno highlighted that the primary objective of the training was to equip members of the community with essential skills to respond effectively during emergencies, especially in situations where official response teams may not be able to reach in time. He reminded the trainees that being recognised as certified volunteers and wardens carries significant responsibility. “The certificates you have received are not just for namesake or display. They represent a commitment to serve, participate, and share the knowledge you have gained with your communities,” he stated.
As part of the programme, Assamwati, Council Chairman of Chungtia, shared feedback on behalf of the trainees, appreciating the quality of the training and the dedication of the instructors.
Abovi K. Awomi, Instructor Havildar, HG, CD & SDRF Mokokchung, chaired the programme and the vote of thanks was delivered by Lanutemjen, Company Commander, HG, CD & SDRF/Civil Defence Deputy Controller, Mokokchung
