‘Clear bills to avoid disconnection’; Kohima electrical div to consumers

Kohima, December 16 (MExN): The Electrical Division, Kohima today informed all electricity consumers under Electrical Division, Kohima that disconnection of consumers for defaulting in bill payments and illegal/ unauthorized connections including government offices and villages/SPMs will commence from January 2022.

All categories of consumers under Kohima Town and Rural areas under Electrical Division, Kohima have been requested to clear their electricity bills at the earliest in order to avoid disconnection and inconvenience.

“Further, public are warned that illegal/unauthorized tapping and use of electricity is an offence and will invite penalty in the form of fine/imprisonment or both as per Electricity Act, 2003 and therefore all are requested to desist from such activities,” stated Er Rukongutuo Suohu, Executive Engineer, Electrical Division Kohima.

Consumers have also been requested to read the information printed at the back of the Electricity Bill and to note that “Non-receipt of bills is not a valid excuse for failure to make payment within due date.

Duplicate bill may be obtained from local Office on demand, it stated.

In case of any discrepancies and any other grievances regarding their bills, consumers have been advised to visit the offices of their respective SDOs  (E ) No. I, II, III for clarification, correction and rectification.

Prepaid electricity consumers have also been advised to utilize the department’s portal https://prepaid.dopn.gov.in to recharge for convenience.
