Dimapur, August 28 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) today countered criticism from the Opposition, on the issue of bad road and surface transport sector in Nagaland, by saying the Congress Legislature Party’s (CLP) leader himself had listed ‘achievements’ when he was a Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) Cabinet minister.
“Just last year (2011), the hon’ble CLP leader Mr Tokheho Yepthomi gave a personal account of developmental achievements, showcasing the construction of roads, bridges and other developments which he had, as a Cabinet minister in the DAN-I government, inaugurated,” the NPF’s media cell said in a press release today.
The statement speaks volumes about the policies of the DAN government for progress and modernization of the state, the NPF claimed. Beside the “personal accounts being disseminated through local Medias on February 27, 2011 by the CLP Leader much more progress on the development front have taken place and are in progress,” the party explained.
According to the NPF media cell inclement weather condition and torrential rains are causing unprecedented road blocks caused by massive landslides throughout the mountainous state.
The authority in concern has been “working tooth and nail” round the clock to ensure safety and uninterrupted travel convenience for all round purposes, the party said. “Thus, the government has left no stone unturned in safeguarding people’s welfare and vehicular movements even in cases of mounting hardship and havoc caused by nature,” the NPF stated.
However, the party lamented the opposition and criticism “despite the sincere efforts of the NPF led DAN government towards improving the living standard of the people through the numerous developmental activities, lightning repair works, renovation and better road constructions in particular”
The party said the NPCC media cell “seems to be ignorant of the Congress-led UPA government at the centre being embroiled in multi Crore rupees corruption charges and scams, and that now, people from all walks of life from across India have joined Anna Hazare in his indefinite fast demanding a Jan Lokpal Bill, for a corruption free India.”
The NPF claimed “the magnitude of developmental works ranging from construction of Bridges & Roads in particular and other modernization works in all regions/districts of Nagaland have been addressed with utmost attention by the NPF led DAN government.
