Dimapur | January 9
The Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) has once again garnered attention, this time due to what has been described as a "miscommunication" leading to the temporary suspension of cashless treatment services at Faith Hospital in Dimapur.
On January 9, the hospital issued a public notice stating that cashless treatment services under both the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and the CMHIS-EP were suspended. The notice attributed the suspension to the insurance provider, Future Generali India Insurance Company, and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to beneficiaries.
Although the hospital management was unavailable for comment, sources from the state health department clarified that the issue was swiftly addressed. According to the sources, the rejection of “pre-authorisation” requests by the insurance company triggered the suspension.
The process of pre-authorisation, in this context, implies the doctor’s office or the hospital submitting a request to the insurance company for approval of the medical diagnosis and the treatment plan.
The portal’s system allegedly responded with a denial of claim message, which subsequently went public, prompting the message from Faith Hospital.
“But the issue has been resolved it is non issue now,” said one of the sources, stating that the insurance company admitted to an inadvertent error and that all services will continue.
The insurance company wrote back to all the empanelled hospitals whose pre-authorisation requests were rejected to raise the requests again.
