Commercial activities have resumed in the state capital Kohima after lifting two weeklong total lockdown on Saturday.

Early this morning, the denizens flocked the various grocery shops to buy essential commodities.

However, garment and footwear shops witnessed thin customers. 

The total lockdown was enforced from July 25 to 31 and later extended to August 7 within Kohima municipal area in view of rising COVID-19 cases.

Commercial establishments are allowed to remain open on all weekdays Monday-Saturday from 7:00 AM to 4: 00 PM as per the order issued on June 18 last by Kohima deputy commissioner.

Odd-even traffic rule as specified in the order dated July 15 will continue to remain in force, DC stated in an order.

Meanwhile, when contacted, Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) administrator Kovi Meyase informed that shortage of essential commodities have not been reported in Kohima.

Earlier, the state’s directorate of health and family welfare urged the citizens to avoid 3 C’s;  crowded places with many people nearly, confined indoor spaces with poor ventilation and close-contact settings where people have close-range conversations.
